What Does a Med Spa in Texas Offer?

Our patients in Texas have access to world-class cosmetic treatments and procedures that can rejuvenate the skin and recharge your batteries so that you can get back into your life with a renewed sense of energy and purpose. The bewildering variety of med spa treatment options can sometimes be difficult to sort through. Which treatment is right for me? Will it require any downtime? Questions like these need to be answered before you can really narrow down your treatment choices.

Microdermabrasion

Are you dealing with a dull complexion or superficial wrinkles? If so, a microdermabrasion treatment at our med spa in Texas can help. Ideally, dead skin cells on the surface of your skin should slough off to make room for new ones. In some cases, material like dead skin cells, oils, and cellular debris can accumulate and block the natural radiance of your skin. Microdermabrasion works by removing this buildup to immediately brighten your complexion or minimize superficial wrinkles and scars.

We use a small hand-held device to spray microscopic crystals onto your skin’s surface. These abrasive particles will break up the molecular bonds holding the dulling buildup together. Once this material is broken up, fresher, more radiant skin will be visible.

Laser Hair Removal

If you are sick and tired of constantly needing to pluck, shave, or wax to remove unwanted hair from places like your face, legs, arms, underarms, or bikini area, you should consider undergoing a laser hair removal procedure at our med spa. This is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures in the United States. It can help you permanently remove unwanted hair so that you can spend time in less tedious activities.

Laser hair removal works through the use of a laser that transmits focused light energy into hair follicles. This energy is converted into thermal energy that is absorbed by melanin, the part of your hair that gives it its color. The heat energy will destroy the hair follicle and its ability to grow hair.

A laser hair removal procedure begins with shaving the hair down in the treatment area to just above the surface of your skin. You and your technician may be required to wear protective eye wear during this treatment. The technician will transmit a test pulse of the laser equipment before beginning. Laser energy will be transmitted into hair follicles to destroy them and prevent the growth of unwanted hair.

After Your Procedure

After you have undergone the necessary number of laser hair removal treatment sessions, you’ll want to ensure that you get the best results possible from your procedure. You should refrain from prolonged sun exposure for a couple of weeks before and after your treatment so that the procedure runs smoothly and there is no problem with your recovery. Do not undergo any other types of laser procedures in the area that was treated for a few weeks after your laser hair removal treatment.

Facial Fillers

Are you bothered by the appearance of lines and wrinkles that make you appear older than your actual age? Are you looking for a treatment that does not involve any downtime? Millions of facial filler procedures have been performed to turn back the clock on aging skin without the need for hospitalization or downtime. The treatment involves the injection of various substances that promote enhanced skin thickness, hydration, or both. The results are usually immediate, and there is a very low risk of adverse events following treatment with fillers.

Juvederm®

Juvederm® is a very popular hyaluronic acid facial filler. Hyaluronic acid is a substance produced by your own body in abundance when you are young. The aging process takes a toll on hyaluronic acid production. Since its role is to attract moisture into your skin, the age-related loss of hyaluronic acid leads to thinner skin that is drier and more susceptible to wrinkle formation.

Juvederm® works by replacing some of the hyaluronic acid you have lost due to the aging process or other factors. This will draw moisture into your skin for a plumping and hydrating effect to reduce wrinkles.

Radiesse®

Radiesse® contains something called calcium hydroxylapatite in the form of microspheres to enhance product bioavailability. This is a fancy way of saying that Radiesse® contains a form of calcium that is injected to promote enhanced skin volume to smooth away fine lines and wrinkles.

Results of Facial Fillers

Although facial fillers offer excellent results without any need for downtime, their results are not permanent. You will need follow-up injections after the injected materials have been fully metabolized by your body. Fillers do, however, offer long-lasting results of up to two years before maintenance injections are necessary.

Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser skin resurfacing is a technique that treats a wide variety of skin conditions, including blemishes, scars, stretch marks, and wrinkles. We use a laser to heat soft tissues under the skin’s surface. Your body will then remove old, damaged skin tissue and replace it with fresher, more youthful skin that displays fewer imperfections.

One amazing aspect to undergoing a laser skin resurfacing treatment is that we can precisely target a defined area for treatment. This means that surrounding skin tissue is left completely unaffected, which greatly speeds up your healing and recovery time.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels come in different forms to treat virtually any skin condition, including lines and wrinkles, acne scars, hyperpigmentation, and more. The treatment involves the application of a chemical solution that remains on your skin for a specified amount of time. This causes some of the outer skin tissue to slough off and encourage the development of fresher skin.

There are basically three types of peels: light, medium, and deep. This refers to the depth of penetration. Light peels do not normally require any sedation or downtime. A medium peel sometimes require sedation and downtime, while a deep peel always does.

Light Chemical Peels

Light chemical peels are basically a form of exfoliation that removes any buildup of dead skin cells on the surface of your skin. It is used to treat enlarged pores, dull complexion, and superficial wrinkles. Typical acids used in the solution are glycolic, lactic, or alphahydroxy acid.

Medium Chemical Peels

Typically containing a chemical called TCA, medium peels remove the stratum corneum skin layer and some of the epidermis to encourage the formation of new skin tissue. This type of peel is for the treatment of light lines and wrinkles, lighter scars, and hyperpigmentation.

Deep Chemical Peels

Deep peels are a more aggressive form of treatment for deep lines and wrinkles, stretch marks, hyperpigmentation, and deeper scars caused by acne, injury, or surgery. Be prepared to spend a few weeks in seclusion while your skin heals and remodels from this powerful treatment that is typically only performed once. Deep peels normally contain strong chemicals like phenol or carbolic acid.

After Your Peel

After undergoing a chemical peel procedure, you will want to lock in your results by safeguarding your skin while it heals. The treatment will remove some of the outer skin tissue, making your skin more vulnerable during this time. Avoid prolonged sun exposure in the area of treatment until your skin has time to heal completely. You should also avoid any activities that could dry your skin. Lock in moisture with a good moisturizer following your bath or shower each day.

HydraFacial

This treatment approach helps to clean out pores while delivering potent topicals to help moisturize, plump, protect, and brighten your skin. We use a special hand piece equipped with proprietary vortex technology to help treat skin problems like lines and blemishes.

The HydraFacial is a popular treatment among adults with wrinkles, pimples, and hyperpigmentation, as well as for teenagers dealing with acne. It combines vortex technology with a special solution that is applied to the skin, suctioning gunk from skin pores in a very gentle but powerful way.

BOTOX® Injectables

Not all wrinkles are created equal. Some wrinkles form due to underlying facial contractions, like when you frown or squint. Known as dynamic wrinkles, these folds and creases can really give away your age like nothing else. Fortunately, BOTOX® is able to temporarily paralyze these facial muscles, preventing them from forming contractions and the resulting dynamic wrinkles.

BOTOX® is a type of safe botulinum toxin that is formulated in a laboratory under extremely strict, controlled conditions. The injections act as a sort of nerve block to prevent the reception of messages from the brain to the treated muscle to contract. The area of injection will be quite smooth and more free of wrinkles during the length of time that the treatment works.

Like most injectables, BOTOX® does not work forever. Eventually, the injected materials will wear off and touch-ups will be needed. Results typically last for around three to six months. You may notice a gradual return of facial muscle movement at around the three-month mark. When this happens, you may want to go ahead and schedule a maintenance treatment so that you maintain your wrinkle reduction results.
