Rejuvenate, freshen, sparkle and shine with brighter skin. A chemical peel can help you achieve smoother, more beautiful skin by reducing or eliminating the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, acne scarring and uneven pigmentation.
Soulage Wellness and Aesthethic Center offers chemical peels using the finest medical-grade products to gently remove the damaged outer layers of skin. The peel is administered using an acid solution to promote new growth and expose the brighter, healthier layer of skin. Typical chemical peels take approximately 15 to 30 minutes, giving it the widely known nickname “the lunchtime peel”. Times may vary depending on the severity of the skin condition.
Chemical Peels – Are They Safe?
Chemical peels are a popular choice for people wanting effective results for fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin pigmentation, acne scarring and skin rejuvenation. Before deciding on a chemical peel, however, many patients have questions ranging from whether it is a safe procedure to what, exactly, is a chemical peel?Just as in most medical procedures, chemical peels do have some slight risks. While chemical peels rarely result in serious complications and are considered extremely safe, some patients may experience swelling, scarring, numbness, infection and changes in skin tone. It is always recommended to have your chemical peel procedure performed by an experienced provider.
To help in healing after a chemical peel procedure, you may be advised to avoid sun exposure for several months. This will help protect your newly forming layers of skin.
After your chemical peel, you may experience temporary flaking, scaling, redness or dryness on the treated areas. As your skin adjusts to treatment, these conditions will be alleviated. It is essential that you follow your doctor’s post-procedure instructions to alleviate and minimize any after effects.
What types of Chemical Peels are available?
Chemical peels are administered for a wide variety of skin problems. If you have uneven pigmentation, your chemical peel treatment would differ from someone who wanted to remove blemishes or wrinkles. The VI Peel TM offers a safe, effective approach to achieving younger looking skin and provides superior results for all Fitzpatrick skin types. Two to four peels per year, along with proper home care, reverses sun damage, treats hyperpigmentation including melasma, acne and acne scarring, aging skin and rosacea. Patients of all ages will benefit from our treatments, from pre-teen acne sufferers to mature patients wanting to reverse the signs of aging. Unlike other chemical peels, our treatments are virtually painless, require no skin preconditioning and have minimal downtime.
The VI PeelTM
Contains a synergistic blend of powerful ingredients suitable for all skin types. This peel improves the tone, texture and clarity of the skin. It reduces or eliminates solar lentigines (age spots), treats hyperpigmentation (including melasma), and softens lines and wrinkles. The VI PeelTM is an excellent choice to address acne and reduce or eliminate acne scars, while stimulating the production of collagen, for healthier, firmer, more youthful skin. This self- neutralizing peel provides dramatic results with virtually no pain, no skin preparation and minimal downtime. The peel is also suitable for the eye area, chest, hands, arms and back. Each VI PeelTM incorporates a two part system to ensure client satisfaction for visible exfoliation. Following each peel, 3 retinoic acid towelettes are applied by the patient as part of their post peel treatment regimen. Patients enjoy radiant, younger looking skin in about a week.
Key Ingredients:
- Trichloroacetic acid (TCA) is created in a laboratory by combining three chlorine molecules with acetic acid, a relative of vinegar. TCA provides excellent exfoliation properties while stimulating collagen production to repair the skin.
- Retinoic acid Vitamin A promotes collagen and elastin production, helps to increase water levels within the epidermis, normalizes cell turnover and is a melanogenesis inhibitor.
- Salicylic acid is a beta hydroxyl acid (BHA) with anti-inflammatory properties and is an effective anti-acne ingredient working as a keratolytic, clearing out dead cells blocking the hair follicle that cause impactions.
- Phenol has the ability to trap free radicals, works as a chemical cauterant to exfoliate the skin, has preservative properties and in low percentages is an effective numbing agent.
- L-Ascorbic (Vitamin C) a very stable, water soluble form of vitamin C, is an anti-oxidant, photo protectant (protects from UV damage), stimulates collagen production, brightens the skin, and suppresses melanogenesis.
VI Peel Boosters
The Precision booster is made from the same synergistic blend of ingredients as the VI PeelTM, but at a higher concentration, for a treatment about 25% stronger. Precision is an excellent addition for treating hyperpigmentation, Actinic Keratosis, Keratosis Pilaris and age spots on arms, hands, or chest. The Precision Plus booster and pad system were made specifically to treat stubborn melasma and hyperpigmentation. Hydroquinone and kojic acid are added to this formulation to effectively target moderate to severe pigmentation. Both boosters must be used in conjunction with VI PeelTM or VI PeelTMPURIFY.
