Which Injectable is Right for Me?

Cosmetic treatments are all the rage. Millions of people are looking for smoother skin, fewer wrinkles, and other ways to look their best. A popular choice for treatment are injectables, which can be used for a variety of reasons. These injections help with things like wrinkles, folds, creases, and adding volume to the face and hands. For patients trying to look their best, knowing which injectables are best suited for their needs is essential.

Patients in the Bastrop, Texas area looking for experience and quality in cosmetic treatments can rely on the services of Dr. Pompeyo Chavez and the capable staff at Soulage Med Spa.

They offer a number of different options for injectables, including:

Dermal fillers

Also referred to as soft tissue fillers, this type of injectable is used to add volume to lips, fill in wrinkles, and soften recessed scars. Dermal fillers help with the production of collagen, an essential protein that gives skin its strength and suppleness. Collagen production decreases as you get older, and dermal fillers help deal with that.

Different fillers are used to treat specific cosmetic issues, such as:

Treatment solutions are mixed with lidocaine for comfort during the procedure. How long the treatments last will vary, ranging from six months to two years.

Wrinkle relaxers

This type of treatment relaxes muscles in injected areas, reducing the wrinkles caused by those muscles. BOTOX® Cosmetic, which is derived from a version of the botulinum toxin that is highly diluted and safe for use in cosmetic treatments, is the best-known example of this treatment class. Other treatments using the same bacterium include Dysport® and Xeomin®.

Wrinkle relaxers are specifically used to target wrinkles caused by muscle movement, as opposed to dermal fillers which can be used whether muscle is present or not. It treats wrinkles and lines caused by actions performed by facial muscles such as smiling, frowning, and squinting. The treatment generally lasts up to four months.

Kybella®

This treatment is designed to treat excess fat under the chin (called the submental fat or double chin). It works by using a synthetic version of deoxycholic acid, which is a chemical the body makes to absorb fats. It’s the only injectable treatment to treat a double chin that’s FDA approved.

The treatment usually requires multiple sessions, but once done, the fat cells treated are no longer able to store fat.

Making the right decision about which injectable to use will guarantee the best results for your individual needs.
