What are dermal fillers?

Dermal fillers are injectable gels that temporarily correct age-related volume loss and enhance your beauty. They add volume just below the skin to correct volume depletion or add a volume boost where you want it.

Where can I have dermal fillers injected?

There are several popular areas for dermal filler injections:

• Cheeks
• Lips, including the lip borders and inner lips
• Hollows under your eyes
• Nasolabial folds, the smile lines extending from your nose to the lip borders
• Marionette lines, the lines from your lip borders to the chin

Dermal fillers are rarely used for lines in the forehead, between the brows, or crow’s feet because those lines come from muscle movement. Those lines respond better to Botox®.

Lines and wrinkles

For lines and wrinkles, such as nasolabial folds, Radiesse is often the best solution. It's a volumizing filler that adds immediate volume to reduce lines and wrinkles. 

Radiesse also creates a scaffold beneath your skin. This helps your skin maintain its new volume while simultaneously stimulating fresh collagen growth. Radiesse lasts for at least a year.

Another option for nasolabial folds is Juvéderm XC, a filler that works instantly to naturally restore volume for up to a year.

Etched-in lines

For etched-in small lines and wrinkles like vertical lines surrounding your lips, Belotero Balance is often the right filler. Belotero Balance is a smooth cohesive gel that feels, looks, and moves naturally beneath your skin. 

Cheeks

For the cheek area, which may sag or appear sunken as you age, Juvéderm Voluma is the leading choice. Voluma is the only FDA-approved treatment for this area. This dermal filler works by gently lifting the midface. Voluma lasts up to 24 months.

Lips

For lips, the filler depends on your goal. For lip volumizing, Juvéderm XC can be a great choice. If your main aim is improving definition in your lip border and eliminating lines in that area, Belotero Balance might be recommended.
